The Out of the Cold program is completely volunteer run. Prior to the start of the season, we provide training in four key areas:
- Crisis Intervention
- Health & Safety Issues
- Mental Health Issues
- Site Orientation
This will give you, the volunteer the tools to deal with simple situations. Realize that you will never be asked to work alone and someone will always be there with experience to lead you.

We would like to volunteer every other week for dish washing. We both work at full time jobs and would not be available until 6pm. As new volunteers for this program, we want to start at a job that is comfortable for us.
Which site, night are you interested in?
Not all sites have this position.
(Some just lump it in with kitchen staff.)
Go toOur Events Calendar (October) for details on the training dates, times and locations.
Got to For full details about what each session is about.
Please feel free to contact me for further details as required.
Thank you for your support of our program.

This years training datesd will be decided noxt. I will post them, once I know the dates and locations.
You do realize that we are not an employer, we are completely volunteer.
Hi, do you know when your training will begin? I am interested in volunteering.
Thank-you.
Hello
I would like some information on any upcoming training sessions for the Out of the Cold Program. I am most interested in St John’s Lutheran Church; as I am a resident of Waterloo. This is my preferred location but I would be open to other sites if needed.
I am open to all positions and will feel quite comfortable in all roles. I currently work within the Housing Programs at Lutherwood and already work closely with individuals with many housing barriers. My husband is a chef and we have owned our own restaurant, I am equally comfortable in a kitchen environment.
I am looking secure a volunteer placement at an Out of the Cold Program along with my grade 12 daughter, Chelsea. My daughter has served two years on the Waterloo Community Youth Counsel. She has Post Secondary goals of working in this community in a Social Service capacity.
If you think we may be a good fit for this program, please contact me with further information.
Thank you for your consideration
